Faults with the Roof of a building

(Click the images for a photo gallery.)

mossy roof Heavy moss growth on a thatched roof around the chimney stack. The thatch is so poor that water may penetrate.

Roof tilingFailure of roof tiling viewed from the underside (roof void).

Roof tilingIs this the correct practice to re-cover a slate roof with concrete tiles? Not unless further strengthening to roof timbers internally has been carried out and Building Regulation Approval has been obtained

Roof slates

Roof slates have been jointed onto a main house wall with a line of mastic instead of proper detailing using leadwork.

foam fillerRepairs around a chimney stack going through the roof have been made with a foam filler instead of dealing with poor leadwork externally. Water can still penetrate this joint.
